A DEVOTED father is running ten marathons to raise £10,000 in memory of his daughter.

Cy Honeyman, of Parkside, Grays, is kicking off with the Jurassic Coast Challenge – three marathons in three consecutive days from Charmouth to Poole, on Sunday, March 22, the day after what would have been his daughter, Megan’s, tenth birthday.

He will then take his running shoes to the Shakespeare Marathon in Stratford-upon-Avon in April and travel the country for runs, culminating on November 2 for the Spooky Halloween Marathon in Shropshire.

Cy will be joined by Megan’s godfather, Jon Garthwaite, in the effort.

Megan, pictured inset, had the life-limiting illness Global Developmental Delay. When Megan was three, the family turned to Little Havens Children’s Hospice in Thundersley for help.

Cy explained: “Through Meg’s short life, Little Havens was always there for us. They let us have a slice of normality in our lives, without the 24/7 pressures of caring for a terminally ill child. She always loved her time there.”

She died peacefully at her family home in December 2009 aged six-years-old.

Cy added: “I felt I wanted to give a little something back for what they did for us.”

Cy and Jon were running on a treadmill and collecting outside Morrisons in Grays recently. Sponsor them by logging on to http://uk.virginmoney giving.com/CyHoneyman
