Online bid by Morrisons

SUPERMARKET giant Morrisons is launching online delivery.

The store, which has a huge branch in Grays town centre, saw a 7 per cent drop in profits last year with bosses saying this was down to not having smaller, “local” stores or online food deliveries.

The company is now in discussions with online grocer Ocado and wants to launch online by January 2014.

Morrisons has also bought 49 former Blockbuster stores, although they have not revealed if the closed store in Grays town centre is one of them, and plans to turn them into convenience stores called M Local.

Why would they buy Blockbusters in Grays when they already have a supermarket just round the corner?
