Thug jailed for violent attack on ex-partner and her friend

A MAN who punched the mother of his child and head-butted, throttled and stamped on her friend has been jailed for two years.

Lee Channon, 26, hunted down his former partner, Julia Staley, to her Corringham home, smashed down the door and subjected her friend Sian Thackeray to an “unprovoked and sustained” attack in front of her terrified 12-year-old daughter last month.

Channon, who was jailed at Basildon Crown Court yesterday, then set upon Miss Staley as their seven-month-old daughter slept upstairs, breaching an order banning him from entering the house or harming her.

Ms Thackeray’s injuries included swollen eyes, choke marks on her neck and a bruise on her face in the shape of a shoe print.

Judge Owen Davies QC, sentencing, said: “You are a man with a terrible record.

“You have demonstrated with your previous convictions a dangerous attitude towards women.”

Channon, of Conway Gardens, Grays, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm, common assault, breach of a non-molestation order and criminal damage.

He breached a previous order banning him from harming her. Is this some kind of Monthy Python sketch. What's next, orders banning people from killing people. I'm sure the women involved feel re-assured that his person will probably be on the streets in 6 to 8 months. Presumably the judges will order that he has a holiday when he's released just to show there's no hard feelings.
