Turbine bid at port is on course

TILBURY Docks’ wind farm is taking shape.

The Port of Tilbury is building the four-turbine farm, that will supply half of the electricity it needs.

Specialist engineers from SSE Renewables are constructing each of the turbines in stages which is expected to take two weeks. Each turbine will generate 2.3MW of electricity.

Perry Glading, chief operating officer at Forth Ports, owner of the Port of Tilbury, said: “We’re pleased to see the four turbines starting to take shape.

“This wind farm demonstrates our commitment to the environment and enhances our position as Britain’s greenest port.

“The team at SSE Renewables is doing a great job with the installation, with minimum interruption to daily activities.

“We look forward to seeing the turbines in place once they are completed, as this project is something we are very proud of.”

Nice to see us Tilbury people had a say about these horrible things.. If i put one in my garden then how long before I was told to take it down. Can't even put a fence up over 6ft.

Bloody Eyesore.
Tilbury is bad enough without these huge obtrusive carbuncles.
I used to have a nice view across the river to Kent. Now just huge white windmills.
