THURROCK Business Awards has again proved that business in the borough is booming after a mega-successful presentation evening at the Civic Hall in Grays on Friday.
More than 300 people, along with guests that included the borough’s MPs Jackie Doyle-Price and Stephen Metcalfe and Thurrock Council leader John Kent, celebrated the business achievements of the past year as a string of awards were handed out.
The awards were organised by the Gazette’s parent company, Newsquest.
Perry Glading, of the event’s main sponsors the Port of Tilbury, told guests: “There is no doubt running a business in this current environment, continues to be ever more challenging for us all, as we all adjust to what we have to offer in the market place to ensure our businesses remain successful.
“Those who put themselves forward for these awards have a confidence and belief in their companies that they look to share with the wider business community in Thurrock.”
Angela O’Donoghue, of South Essex College, chaired the judging panel. She said: “Thurrock is on the up, the college and the businesses who have entered the awards, many of whom are here tonight, are a key part of that.
“The growth in employment prospects with the development of the port and the logistics industry, alongside the highly-performing businesses here tonight, is making the borough an attractive business location.
“You should all be very proud.”
