Councillor welcomes hospital report

A COUNCILLOR has welcomed a new report on Basildon Hospital as a “step forward”.

The report, released last week, highlighted ongoing concerns about risk management, poor practice and long waiting times. But it also recognised “some improvements had been made”.

Thurrock's Conservative health spokesman Shane Hebb said: “I think it’s important to recognise there have been improvements.

“These are welcome and reflect the hard work of staff at the hospital.

"However, they are the first step on a long journey and there is still more to be done. Sustainability of these improvements must be the focus now.

“Our ambition is the same as every resident of Thurrock – consistent and caring treatment and an improved patient experience.”
