THURROCK Film Festival is open to submissions as the organisers hope this year will be bigger and better than last year.
Entries for this year’s celebration of film are pouring in thick and fast for this year’s event which will take place from September 23 to 28.
Benjamin Scarsborough and Natalie Williams are behind the event and are looking forward to seeing what the borough has to offer this year.
Benjamin said: “Last year was self-funded, Lakeside Shopping Centre sponsored us which really helped us out.
“We are filmmakers and we studied film at university. We came back here and thought we would love to go to a film festival in the area and why wait for someone else? So we thought we would do it.”
The festival was a huge success with screenings including the classics Singing In The Rain, the Wizard of Oz, Spirited Away and Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade.
The week-long celebration of film also includes a short-film competition which is open for entries until June 1.
Workshops offering tips and advice about everything from stage make-up, photography and acting will also be available through the festival.
Benjamin added: “There will be screenings of classic films as well as specialist events which we are finalising.
“We have had more than 50 films sent to us already and we have only been open for entries for a month.
“We have had entries from Brazil, Canada, France and Spain.”
