Police helicopter helps capture wanted man in Grays

ESSEX Police's helicopter helped officers arrest a wanted man in Grays.

At about midday today the police helicopter circled Grays town centre, hovering above Morrisons, as officers on the ground hunted for the man.

He was found by the helicopter and arrested by police on the ground a short while later.

Wow! What a fantastic article and a great piece of traditional Thurrock Gazette journalism.

In other news, a woman gave birth in Basildon hospital and someone crossed the railway crossing in Grays.

I am fed up with the Police Helicopter constantly being over the Grays area. It seems to be mostly late at night or the early hours, making a racket, waking up households and making all the dogs bark. Surely there is no need to hover over peoples houses when they are trying to sleep! They wouldn't get away with it if they were an airline, due to night flight restrictions.

The reason why the police helicopter is hovering above the streets and houses during the night is because it's trying to catch criminals who have escaped from the ground unit.

It's reassuring whenever I hear the police helicopter as it means the police are doing what they're paid to do: PROTECT THE PUBLIC.

The police can't normally do enough, now they are doing too much? Are you serious? I wouldn't think they are doing it for the fun of it, or for training at that time of the morning!

Sadly people are brainwashed that the Police protect the public. If you look at the statistics of how many people die whilst in Police custody, or when they are being 'chased in cars' by the Police then you would feel differently. I was walking up Brentwood High Street the other day and a Police van went straight through a red light on a pedestrian crossing with no siren and no lights just as people were crossing the road. Fortunately, the people crossing were not blind or deaf as they would have been run over. I caught up with the Police van further up the road as they had pulled over a car, for whatever reason. I spoke to the driver of the Police van and pointed out what he had done and he said 'I don't have to use my sirens or lights'. I couldn't believe it. Well I think you do or maybe that is why so many people are being killed by Police cars on our roads. Also, the height that the Police helicopter flies at is dangerous. They fly low over people's houses and Power Lines, if they have a malfunction it would cause a catastrophe, just like the one that crashed in Central London a number of weeks ago. What about the pollution and noise pollution and the money it costs the taxpayers each time the helicopter goes up. It's not a cheap service but it is used as one. I wouldn't mind, but the Air Ambulances around the country rely on charity donations and struggle to fly due to the costs, yet the Police seem to be up all of the time without a care in the world. I am sure that they aren't required the amount of times they are up in the air. It's about time the Police got out of their cars and chased people on foot who have escaped them, oh I forgot, they are all too fat after eating KFC, Mcdonalds, Kebabs, donuts etc, and I see them all the time going into these places for their meals.
