A HEADTEACHER has been shortlisted for a teaching award.
Louise Coates, headteacher at Bonnygate Primary School in South Ockendon, has been selected as a finalist for the 2013 Pearson Teaching Awards as Headteacher of the Year.
The Arisdale Avenue school’s deputy head, Gareth Jones, was on hand to meet the judges.
He said: “Mrs Coates is becoming well known for her high standards and drive for raising attainment at Bonnygate.
“This, coupled with her inspirational leadership, has seen Bonnygate Primary become an excellent educational establishment promoting the life chances for the children who come here.”
The finalists will receive the results when they are announced by the Pearson Teaching Awards on Thank a Teacher Day - May 17.
Mrs Coates added: “I am honoured to be shortlisted for this amazing award. I work with such a hardworking and dedicated team of staff and the children are just brilliant – it makes my job so much easier.”
