Work to restore historic lychgate to start next week

WORK to repair a lychgate at a memorial ground will start next week.

The gate, at the entrance to West Thurrock Memorial Ground, needs to be repaired and engineers will move in on March 4.

Traffic and pedestrians will not be able to use the entrance while the work is carried out over the next two weeks.

The gate’s beams and main spars are beginning to perish and need replacing.

Access to the field will be via the gates in Hilltop Road and via West Thurrock Cemetary.
