A STANFORD-Le-Hope born make-up artist is celebrating after winning an Oscar.

Julie Dartnell, 49, did the make-up for Hugh Jackman in the smash hit film Les Miserables.

Ms Dartnell and her colleague Lisa Westcott were awarded at the glitzy ceremony in Hollywood last night.

The mum of two, who went to Hassenbrook school in Stanford-Le-Hope, began doing make-up aged 16, but this was the first time she had received a nomination for the top award.

Julie had to fly out to Los Angeles in January to present her work to the Oscars panel and discuss how and why she had decided to do Jackman’s make-up and wigs.

Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, in the heartbreaking musical set in
19th Century France. The film had been nominated for eight Academy awards, winning three.

The film's stunning make-up and wigs also won a Bafta earlier this month.

Julie started her career working with renownded West End theatrical make-up artist and wig-maker Bert Broe before working at the BBC.

She has done the make-up in a number of films, including Captain America.

Julie currently lives in Berkshire with her two children and partner.

Well done, I suppose.

I reckon you would make a packet selling an Oscar on Ebay. I remember when jose mourinho had thrown his medal into the crowd & the person who caught it sold it for thousands & thousands on ebay.
