THEATRE lovers are needed to tread the boards for an amateur dramatic society.

The Tin Hut Amateur Dramatics Society is now recruiting new members for new productions.

Set up 14 months ago, the group has had two productions, but now wants to get more people involved in the local theatre.

Rob Purton, from the group, said: “We only started in October 2011 and we originally started to put on a production to raise money for charity. There was only eight of us then.

“We did a Christmas Carol and we always use Chadwell Village Hall. It has got a marvellous stage.”

The society is an offshoot of the successful Tin Hut Youth Theatre, that was set up in 2008. When the youngsters who were performing became too old to attend, they decided to set up an adult club. It rehearses at North Stifford Village Hall every Thursday from 7.15pm until 9pm and is working on two one-hour comedies, to be shown in June of this year.

Ideally they would like men and women between the ages of 35 and 65 – but anyone over the age of 18 will be welcome.

Rob added: “We are not like an ordinary amateur dramatic society. Most of us hadn’t stepped on a stage in years – since school. We are open to anybody.”
