The launch event
THE parents of a teenager killed in a horror crash have launched a special support group in her memory five years on.
Katie Johnson, 19, and her friend Georgia Hammond, 17, died in a smash at the Stifford interchange on the A13.
Katie’s father Brian, of Elmway, Stifford Clays, has launched Losing A Child, to help families in similar circumstances to his.
The group was launched at a special memorial service at St Mary’s Church in North Stifford, attended by boxing pundit Spencer Fearon and Miss Teen Galaxy Essex Brogan Price.
Mr Johnson hopes to raise £5,000 to buy a caravan in Clacton, where any family who have lost a child can go for a break.
Mr Johnson said: “I wanted to go somewhere where no-one was going to ask how you are. This will be a place to relax.
“It’s also all about keeping Katie’s memory alive. I know she would have wanted us to do something like this.”
