New cafe boosts care home
7:00am Saturday 16th February 2013 in News
THE mayor of Thurrock officially opened a new cafe and extension to a care home.
Councillor Yash Gupta was guest of honour at Carolyne House which is owned by Runwood Homes and looks after people aged 65 and over with physical illness or dementia.
The home was originally built in 2002 and the new extension has added eight rooms as well as extra bathrooms and lounge areas for the residents.
A new cafe called Gracies’ Tea Room, named after the homes oldest resident, Grace Sharman, who was 105 last year, was also opened.
The cafe has been designed around an old fashioned tea room, where residents can relax and socialise with each other, or spend time with their families.
