LAKESIDE HMV will be staying open despite administrators for the retail chain announcing UK closures.

Stores across Essex have been saved from the cull which will see 66 loss-making stores shut with the redundancy of 930 staff.

No fixed date is set for the closure of these stores which will continue to trade in the meantime.

However, it is expected the closures will take place over the next two months. HMV has 220 stores in the UK.

The entertainment company was placed in administration on January 15.

Nick Edwards, joint administrator, said: “I continue to be hopeful of securing a future for the restructured business.”
