- Bunce gave Grays the lead from the spot before Small headed home the hosts second. Hammond netted Blues' third right at the start of the second half.
Comprehensive win for Grays who didn't need to be at their best.
They took the lead in the tenth minute through Bunce, who hit home from the spot after Joao Carlos was fouled.
Nine minutes later, Jared Small headed in at the near post to double the hosts lead.
And straight after the restart, Jeff Hammond scored the game's best goal to make it 3-0.
A good win in third gear. Maldon won 9-1 against Harlow Town, so Blues are still 10 points behind the league leaders but have a game in hand.
Plus, it's another clean sheet. Lamar Johnson has only conceded one goal in six since returning from injury!
Thank you for joining me today!
Pick up next week's Thurrock Gazette for reaction and reports from all of today's games.
Needham Market 1 - 1 Tilbury
Hastings United 1 - 1 Thurrock
Lowestoft 0 - 0 East Thurrock
Easy, comprehensive win for Blues.
Dan Fry on for Jared Small now. Nice to see Heyrettin giving Blues youngsters a chance. I understand West Ham are quite interested in Fry. He's got 10 minutes to show his worth here.
Moses heads just wide at the back post from Beaney's free kick.
Paxman levels things for Thurrock at Hastings! 1-1 there now.
The Blues fans providing great entertainment with their jokes (all clean!) and singing here. About 15minutes to go.
Lamar on course for his fifth clean sheet in a row. Hardly had a save to make here. That's the closest Redbridge have come as Macdonald shoots harmlessly wide from 25 yards.
Now here's Moses. He replaces Joao Carlos. Subuola, Beaney and Lalite are the midfield three with Small, Hammond and Moses up front.
Hammond shoots over! Should have scored. Beaney's corner isn't dealt with, the ball bounces in the box, Baker leaves it to Hammond who fires over from eight yards.
Small heads onto the roof of the net. Grays probing for this elusive fourth.
Danny Bunce is being replaced by Danny Subuola. Excellent performance again from Bunce down the left - a goal to boot, too.
Needham Market 1 - 1 Tilbury
In fact, he's coming on now!
17-year-old Brian Moses warming up for Grays. He was excellent against Concord on Tuesday night!
Maldon now 7 up against Harlow. Ridiculous!
3-0 up Grays are but they're working tirelessly off the ball and defending from the front.
Redbridge not particularly impressive with time on the ball, even less so when Grays midfield are in their faces straight away.
More good build up by Grays, leads to an excellent cross by Flynn and header just wide from the unmarked Hammond.
Free kick to Redbridge now. Little bit of complacency in the middle from Blues, invites pressure on. Pope and Beaney the key culprits, but Blues survive.
Danny Bunce shoots just wide now for Blues from 25 yards. Best possible start to the second half for Grays. They can certainly add to this now.
It's quite literally wave after wave of Blues attack.
Carlos hits the post! Excellent strike from 30 yards by the winger, leathers the inside of the post and cannons out.
Maldon and Tiptree now 5-0 up against Harlow Town.
Kenny Beaney booked. Think he used an arm in an aerial challenge with Holloway.
Great goal by Hammond. Jared Small cuts the ball back to him off the touchline, the striker takes it round Beale with a clever touch before clipping the ball with the outside of his boot beyond Neil at the near post.
GOAL!!! GRAYS ATHLETIC 3 - 0 Redbridge - Jeff Hammond 47'
Second half up and running
185 here today. Very few teams in this league can boast such a strong following!
Needham 0 - 1 Tilbury
Hastings United 1 - 0 Thurrock
Lowestoft Town 0 - 0 East Thurrock
Half time here.
Grays 2 - 0 Redbridge
Nice run in off the left by Carlos, beat three or four defenders before his low shot is saved by Neil.
Nice from Bunce, slots the ball through the full backs legs before lashing a shot at goal that Neil punches away.
Joao Carlos then goes very close, he toys with Ikumelo before seeing his cross deflected onto the post. Another before half time would seal this for Blues.
Bunce shoots over from the edge of the area. Good spell for the hosts!
Five minutes to half time.
Maldon and Tiptree are 3-0 up against a beleagured Harlow side. While Thamesmead, who have also emerged as challengers in recent weeks are 1-0 up against Cheshunt.
All gone a bit quite after a super first 20 from Grays. Redbrige are yet to have a notable effort on goal but Blues have taken their foot off the gas slightly.
Fantastic football for Grays! Leon Lalite wins the ball midway inside his own half before pinging a sumptuous ball over the top to Hammond and Small. Small latched on to it, played it across to Hammond and the goal keeper, very bravely, threw himself in front of it. Just received some treatment for his troubles, too.
Great header at the near post following Bunce's cross flies across goal and nestles in the bottom corner.
Could be a cricket score for Blues, this!
GOAL!! GRAYS ATHLETIC 2 - 0 Redbridge - Jared Small 19'
First action of the game for Lamar Johnson. Ball trickles into his arms, tame shot.
Grays playing well here though. Carlos, Hammond and Small linking up well - real pace up top now, which there hasn't been at times this season.
Apologies, technical difficulties with the feed, that goal came some while ago now. But it's Bunce from the spot. His 9th of the season after Joao Carlos by Nikki Beales.
GOAL!! GRAYS ATHLETIC 1 - 0 Redbridge - Danny Bunce (10')
Nikki Beale going into the book here. The ball was played back to him in the Redbridge defence and he missed it. Hammond nipped in but was taken out by Beale, very cynical. He looked to have been last man actually, but ref takes a lenient view of it. Grays fans called for red. but it's just a yellow.
