Star gaze at park event

LEARN about the solar system while enjoying the crisp winter air at a park.

Sky Gazing will be held at Thurrock Thameside Nature Park, in Mucking Wharf Road, Mucking, on Saturday, February 16.

Families are invited to join in the Essex Wildlife Trust’s evening, which runs from 7.30pm until 9.30pm, and learn more about the planets and constellations.

The Starling’s Tearoom will be open for hot drinks and snacks and admission is via a suggested donation of £6 per adult and £3 for each child.

Rebekah Beresford, from the Essex Wildlife Trust, said this was the third such event – and the others had proved very popular.

She said: “The centre is situated in such a beautiful location, the sky is so big here and there is nothing around. “We have five telescopes here for people to look through.”

Great idea, but what happens if it's cloudy? Or worse still if it's tipping down with rain or snow? Still I guess a night out in Mucking is quite unique and worth the experience in itself.
