Woman dead after crash in Aveley

A WOMAN has died after crashing into a tree just north of Aveley.

Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to the scene on Romford Road at around 3.30pm following reports of a car leaving the road, which has been closed since.

It is expected to remain shut for some time as officers from the Essex Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit carry out initial enquiries.

The accident took place near the entrance to Brett's Farm.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We can confirm that the accident is a fatal one. A woman has died but formal identification has not yet been carried out."

A spokesman for Essex Fire and Rescue said: "We were called around 3.30pm to a one vehicle road traffic collision. Fire crews are assisting at the scene." 

Any witnesses to the accident who have not yet come forward to police are urged to do so by contacting 101 or emailing collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk.
