THE boards of Thameside Theatre were graced by a Classic Brit Award winner on Saturday night.

Tasmin Little, who won the Critics Award in 2011 for her recording of Elgin’s Violin Concerto, played with 40 young string players from Thurrock and neighbouring areas.

Tasmin also gave two solo performances, delighting the crowd at the event, which was organised by Thurrock Music Services.

The talented fiddler was awarded an OBE for services to music as part of the Queen’s birthday honours last year.

Mayor Yash Gupta, who was at the show, said: “I thank Tasmin for inspiring the borough’s young people, who performed wonderfully.”
