Ngage holds coffee morning

THURROCK residents are invited to NGAGE’s New Year coffee morning on Friday (January 18).

The event, designed to get people into volunteering, will be held at the Beehive, in West Street, Grays from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Julie Rawson, volunteer coordinator for Ngage said: “Our New Year, New You Coffee Morning will be a perfect way for residents who are considering volunteering in 2013, to find out more by talking to ngage and other people already volunteering in Thurrock.

“We will have lots of free cakes and refreshments available, and our coffee mornings are very informal and have a lovely friendly atmosphere.”

If they could spell properly, it might encourage more to go.
Why do we seem to persist with this penchant for incorrect spelling just so it seems trendy? No wonder children's spelling is so poor, when they see things like this all the time.

I really don't know why people like you bother to comment, especially as you have nothing constructive to say. Organisations like NGAGE should be thanked for all there hard work and for encouraging people to volunteer. Volunteering is a very rewarding way to spend a few hours a week.

I have volunteered for many, many years, a trait I picked up from my family.

My beef is with the trend for mispelling words in relation to groups like this to make it seem trendy, or, in my opinion appeal to the lowest denominators.
What would be wrong with spelling this group's title Engage? Similarly the now defunct youth organisation Connexions, what would have been wrong with Connections?
It's almost like state supported and promoted illiteracy.

Why oh why oh why are all these event during the day - most of us work during the day - when will these so called community engagement groups hold events at a time when the majority of residents can actually engage with them.

i fyou look at the flipping spleeing mate i thought you might of clocked the events pretty much aimed at people who have not long left school just like the way connexions was spelt rather stupidly or the way the 20 12 logo was chosen

Hi A Dermot. I received their newsletter yesterday and they do have a volunteer event in the evening planned too, for Thu 23 May 5pm to 8pm. Also have an afternoon one in Sept. looks like they are trying to cover all times scales to be fair. As for the comments about the spelling of their name, well think you should get with the times, you have obviously got a bit of technology under you belt, so you are getting there?
