First ship docks at new superport

THE SUPERPORT being built on the Thames at Stanford-le-Hope has docked its first ship.
The Wieniawski arrived last Friday at the London Gateway port, due to open next year.
It brought with it four big automatic stacking cranes, as development of what will be the biggest deep sea port in Europe continues.
After a journey from China of several weeks, the ship’s captain was presented with a bronze medal to commemorate the landmark.
