Co-op helps our Foodbank
7:00am Thursday 3rd January 2013 in News
THE Co-operative’s Community Fund has donated £2,000 to Thurrock Foodbank.
The fund is created by members of the Co-operative Group who elect to donate all, or part, of their twice-yearly dividend payments directly, to be shared among local community projects and groups across the country.
Thurrock Foodbank’s Victoria Windus was delighted with the donation.
She said: “We are thrilled with the grant we have received from the Co-operative.
“The funds helped us to buy vital equipment to start the foodbank, including storage and distribution boxes and office supplies.
“In this time when so many families are having to make cutbacks, it is vital we support local people in crisis by offering emergency food supplies to those in need, and this grant has helped us to do so.”
