TRIBUTES have been paid to a former Thurrock Gazette worker, who passed away on Monday.
Frank Stephens, 94, from Corringham, started at the Gazette in 1963 as the paper’s chief photographer, then in the 1970s he became sub editor on the paper, a position he held until he retired 20 years later.
Retired Gazette photographer David Henderson said Frank, who passed away at Basildon Hospital, will be “sadly missed”.
He said: “When I came to the Gazette as an apprentice Frank was my mentor.
“He taught me everything I know today.
“He was a very particular person and a perfectionist, but a very enjoyable person to work with.
“Frank will be sadly missed.”
Frank leaves behind his wife, Doris, and two daughters.
