A NEW £3million sixth form centre has opened at Gable Hall School.
Baroness Angela Smith and Thurrock mayor Yash Gupta opened the new centre last week.
Funding for the project was provided by Thurrock Council in 2010 to support the development of post-16 education in the north east of the borough.
The centre brings to fruition the vision of the three Stanford-le-Hope and Corringham secondary schools for a sixth form college in the area, which has been operating as the Stanford and Corringham sixth form centre and already has 93 students and offers 21 courses.
Dr Sophina Asong, headteacher, said: “This new centre is at the heart of our ambition to offer the best possible education for all our students, regardless of ability.”
