THE jury in a murder plot trial are still considering their verdict today.

The prosecution at Chelmsford Crown Court has alleged four men from Thurrock were involved in planning the attack in which another man was left for dead after he was assaulted on his way home.

A court has heard how it was only thanks to the quick actions of neighbours and paramedics that saved his life after the incident in March this year.

Demolition worker Jamie Usedon, 23, was stabbed outside his home in Dudley Road, Clacton, shortly before 6am on March 15 this year.

As he went to his house, Daniel Yates and Dale Frame are alleged to have attacked him with kitchen knives before escaping in a taxi driven by Robert Knight.

Trial Judge Anthony Goldstaub QC finished summing-up the evidence in the eight week trial yesterday afternoon before sending the jury out.

The jury of seven women and five men returned to court shortly after 4pm when they were sent home for the evening.

They will continue their deliberations today.

Knight, 50, from Lowlands Drive, Aveley, Frame, 26, Broxburn Drive, South Ockendon, Yates, 40, Araglen Avenue, South Ockendon and a fourth man, Edwin Schreech-Powell, 30 Garth Road, South Ockendon, deny conspiring to murder Mr Usedon.

They also deny an alternative charge of conspiracy to cause Mr Usedon grevious bodily harm with intent.
