THE jury in a murder plot trial were due to retire to consider their verdicts today.

Four men are accused of planning to kill another man who was attacked, stabbed and left for dead after he was assaulted on his way home.

A court has heard how it was only thanks to the quick actions of neighbours and paramedics that saved his life after the incident in March this year.
The prosecution at Chelmsford Crown Court has alleged four men from south Essex were involved in planning the attack.

The court has heard how 23-year-old demolition worker Jamie Usedon was stabbed outside his home in Dudley Road, Clacton, shortly before 6am on March 15 this year.

As he went to his house, Daniel Yates and Dale Frame are alleged to have attacked him with kitchen knives before escaping in a taxi driven by Robert Knight.

Closing speeches in the case ended yesterday, before trial Judge Anthony Goldstaub QC started summing-up the evidence in the eight week trial to the jury of six men and six women.

Knight, 50, from Lowlands Drive, Aveley, Frame, 26, Broxburn Drive, South Ockendon, Yates, 40, Araglen Avenue, South Ockendon and a fourth man, Edwin Schreech-Powell, 30 Garth Road, South Ockendon, deny conspiring to murder Mr Usedon.

They also deny an alternative charge of conspiracy to cause Mr Usedon grevious bodily harm with intent.
