Have your say on project cash bid

RESIDENTS in Tilbury and Chadwell St Mary are being invited to come up with ideas for their neighbourhood as part of a £10,000 project.

Thurrock Council has come up with the U Choose project as part of the Government’s initiative to give more power to communities.

Residents and groups are urged to come up with ideas for how to improve well-being in their areas, and submit them to Ngage between now and November 8.

People can vote on the proposals, which must have a £2,000 cap, at the Gateway Academy, in Marshfoot Road, Tilbury, on Saturday, November 17, from 11am.

Jacqui Payne, Ngage’s programme manager, said: “Ngage will be working with groups and individuals in Tilbury and Chadwell St Mary to encourage as many people as possible to get involved in the U Choose event and take a lead in local decision-making.

“Help will be available from Ngage in getting proposals together, but what we want is for people to take ownership of the projects that matter to them and convince their community to vote for them.”

She added: ”We believe U Choose can make a real difference to how residents feel about their community.

“The concept is about far more than a pot of cash – it’s about developing new ways for local people to bring about improvements to their own neighbourhoods.

“We want to encourage residents from Tilbury and Chadwell St Mary to come along and support the projects they want to happen.”

You can pick up an application form for your proposal from the Tilbury and Chadwell St Mary libraries, One Community, 134 Dock Road, or from ward councillors.
