Woman attacked by raiders in her own home

A WOMAN was punched in the face and hit with a piece of wood during an attack in her own home.

The 23-year-old was at her house in Church Hollow in Purfleet when the attack happened.

Two women broke in by smashing a window and reaching through to open it before climbing in.

Once inside they attacked the terrified woman hitting her in the face and then striking her with the piece of wood.

The two women fled leaving their victim suffering scratches, bruising and swelling to the face.

Police are now hunting the woman's attackers and have appealed to the public for help.

Bill Stock of Thurrock police said: "This was an extremely nasty and terrifying attack and left the victim shaken.

"We have good descriptions of the attackers and hope someone will be able to help us identify and catch them."

Both of the women are described as black and aged in their early 20s.

One was 4ft 9ins tall, slim, with black afro hair and wore blue jeans and a brown short-sleeved shirt.

Her accomplice was 5ft 5ins tall, slim with afro hair and wore blue jeans and a cream or yellow turtle neck jumper with a blue hoodie over the top of it.

Witnesses to the attack, which happened at 10.45pm on Wednesday, March 26, are asked contact police at Grays on 0300 333 4444.

I think our local councillors should sit up and take note of what is happening all over Thurrock. Instead of awarding grants of over £80,000 to a racial untity task force, which incidentally was the largest grant handed out by the council to the voluntary sector, they should be looking at the concerns of people that have been residents in this borough for more than just a few months. The upcoming council elections shuld leave them in no doubt about how real local people feel.

I think our local shambles of a council should sit up and take note of what is happening all over Thurrock. Instead of handing over £80,000 to a voluntary "racial unity task force", I wonder who runs that, they should be listening to the views of residents that have lived here a bit longer than a few months. Local elections are coming up and the message should be sent loud and clear as to how most real Thurrock residents feel.
