A TOP borough footballer, accused of conspiracy to murder, has been jailed again after breaching bail conditions.

Grays Athletic's Gavin Grant, from Harrow, Middlesex, was a surprise absentee as the club lost their prestigious FA Trophy semi-final on Saturday, with the club saying he was missing for "personal reasons."

However, he has been jailed after breaching his bail conditions and isn't due to appear before a judge until Wednesday.

Striker Grant, who celebrates his 23rd birthday in a few days, joined Grays on loan from South London Football League Division One Millwall last month and has made a big impact, scoring goals that have revived the club's fight against relegation from the Nationwide Conference League.

But he has been playing under the shadow of the death of 24-year-old Jahmall Moore.

The dad-of-two died after being hit by four bullets as he sat in his car in Harlesden, North West London, last year. Police believe the killing was part of a gang war.

Grant was released on bail after appearing at the Old Bailey where he was charged with conspiracy to murder.

Grant is the second Grays footballer this season to face criminal charges at the Old Bailey involving a death.

In December Ashley Sestanovich was convicted of helping plan a payroll robbery during which Thomas Fahey, 42, was shot in the chest at close range.
