Russell Brand wants to be a vicar?

Russell Brand is rumoured to have applied for a vicar's licence.

The newly divorced British funnyman - who is dating Isabella Brewster - is said to be interested in expanding his skills and is keen to be able to officiate at marriages in the US, claimed The Sun.

The Rock Of Ages actor came up with the idea after stumbling across a website offering the qualification.

A source told the paper: "Russell is genuinely interested in the idea of marrying a couple. Now he's getting matey with Tom Cruise, his pals have been joking that he could do the honours at the star's fourth wedding."

Russell, 37, recently spoke of enjoying the "freedom" of his divorce from pop star Katy Perry, which was finalised this week.

He told US shock jock Howard Stern on his radio show: "It was a lovely relationship. It mostly didn't work for practical reasons. We've gone our separate ways."

He later confirmed that he is dating former talent agent Isabella, the younger sister of Fast Five's Jordana Brewster.
