CHRIS Winter, speaker for our February meeting, brought an immediate smile to our faces as he entertained us with many humerous stories and poems from life.
Young and no so young members could call identify with Growing Old Disgracefully, the title of his talk, causing much laughter.
A letter of thanks had been received from the Mission to Seafarers for the scarves, hats etc sent to them for Christmas.
Following a vote, the Essex Air Ambulance is our adopted charity for 2010.
We were reminded of the many events around the county, in particular the county annual meeting at the Brentwood Centre in March, when one of the speakers is Ann Widdecombe.
We shall be taking goods for George Mills to take to the Ukraine.
George and his wife Marion have worked tirelessly for the benefit of the children since the Chernobyl disaster.
George will also be present at our own meeting in April to tell us more.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday, March 24, at 7.30pm at Emmanuel Church, in Sleepers Farm Road.
