CHAIRMAN Joy Ridgewell wished everyone a belated Happy New Year, toasted with a glass of wine.

The TWC In-House short story competition was won by Peter Pascoe.

He was presented with a £10 prize, for his story High Hopes.

The group has been invited to attend a Book Awareness Day on March 4 arranged by South Ockendon Forum, where the speaker is author Alan Durant.

Members read out stories and poems and there was a short break for refreshments, then a workshop and discussion.

Meetings are held every two weeks at the Hugh Delargy Complex Hall, Chadwell St Mary, on Wednesday evenings.
