THE group held its AGM last month.

Joy Ridgewell was returned as chairman with Denise Manning as secretary and Tina Thompson as treasurer. Joy Ridgewell thanked Cindy Mannering for the box of goodies she has sent to Support for Soldiers. These are for men who are fighting in Afghanistan.

Stories for the annual in house story are being collected. Each member is asked to join in the competition and we are asking a representive of the Brentwood writer’s to judge this.

Flowers are to be sent to Lilian Troy who has been unable to attend owing to ill health.

A variety of stories and poems were read out, Mary Vear and Cindy Mannering read another chapter from the books they are writing. Peter Pascoe has a really interesting tale for his entry to the Age Concern competition. Visitors Denise Crosier read a poem and Irene Mannering a surprise story about her daughter’s wedding dress.

Joy Ridgewell has an article in Thurrock Wildlife magazine.

Next task is a short piece on the swine flu vaccine.

Meetings are held every two weeks at the Hugh Delargy Complex Hall, in Chadwell St Mary, on Wednesday evenings.
