WHAT’S a ‘Peace and Joy Circle’? It was, in fact, the winning entry in Bulphan WI’s competition for an alternative name for a Christmas wreath – a name without funeral connotations. Out of the eight suggestions, the 32 ladies at Bulphan WI’s AGM voted Sally Wall’s entry the best. As Sally had also won the most competitions throughout the year, she was presented with the WI competition cup.

Dawn thanked members of the WI art class, who allowed her to be filmed at their water-colour class, for a video promoting independence skills for people with learning disabilities. The usual annual business went smoothly, with last year’s committee and officers being re-elected. After a special treat (cakes provided by the committee instead of our usual biscuits), trolley dolly Joanne became a human conveyor belt as we played the Generation Game. Our December meeting is a Christmas celebration in the hall and everyone will bring a small plate of festive food. Wine, good company and fun and games will be provided and the evening will finish with carol-singing.
