GRAYS AFTERNOON TOWNSWOMEN'S GUILD

CHAIRMAN Jean Aylett welcomed 35 members and one visitor to the October meeting. Once again members had the sad task of a minute’s silence following the death of member Kath Broad, whose funeral was in fact taking place at this time.

Members were reminded of forthcoming diary dates – the craft section’s afternoon on November 18, the Federation Leisure Day at Romford on November 26 and the Christmas lunch at Clavering on December 4. The team for the federation quiz was announced. Audrey Haines gave a full report on the federation council meeting.

The chairman introduced Elizabeth Horsford, who talked about her kidney transplant, the donor being her mother.

She explained how she became interested in the Transplant Games and entered the British Games in 1991 and then the World Transplant Games – she now has 130 medals. She answered many questions and a vote of thanks was given by Sheila Kempster.

The November meeting will be on the 25th at 1.15.pm, which will be the Christmas party.

The Lightcraft section will also have a sale of its work.
