CHAIRMAN Jeanette Shilling welcomed Rev John Guest, of St Margaret’s Church, Stanford-Le-Hope.

John is chaplain to his local sixth form college; he chairs the community group of his local cluster supporting sixteen schools.

As well as being a clergyman and author, he is also GOF the clown.

Jeanette presented two cheques of £900 to two charities at the meeting to representatives from both charities – Linda Harrison, of Lady McAdden Breast Screening Unit, and Marilyn DeBattista, head of revenue services at St Lukes Hospice.

Bryn and Springhouse Guilds attended the Guilds Rally for a dedication and thanksgiving at St Edwards the Confessor Church in the Market Place, Romford.

Mel Rees held his audience captive with many stories relating to his family.

Mel is an author who over the past 20 years has written and self-published. His talk was chatty, light-hearted and entertaining.

A collection for Essex Air Ambulance Yellow week raised £76.

The Christmas bazaar will be held at Corringham Village Hall, in Springhouse Road, on November 26.
