STANFORD AND CORRINGHAM TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD RITA Cox have a very interesting and moving account of the Leigh fishing vessel Endeavour that took part in Operation Dynamo, playing a role in the evacuation of more than 300,000 troops from the beach of Dunkirk.
The Endeavour was rescued in a derelict state in 2001 and has been painstakingly restored to her original condition by a dedicated group of volunteers.
The decorative mug competition was won by Barbara Purser. The raffle was won by Joyce Birkby, Trudi English, Maud Robinson and Sheila Drake.
The ramblers enjoyed Rainham Marshes once again and it looks like this particular walk is becoming a firm favourite.
The next Guild meeting is our fish and chips social at 7.30pm on Wednesday, July 8, at Corringham village hall.
The competition is a flower from your garden.
