Sims3

My other half won’t play Sims 3 – not that she is a big gamer, but she makes the very valid point of saying she is already living it in the real world. Guess that’s right, but you don’t get to be a fighter pilot in real life. Well, some do of course.

But then you can be a criminal, or podium polisher or journalist – all those things that can’t be done in real life.

Things like build a home and family. Hang on a sec – seems she could be right.

Ok, ok – she is right, but you can’t do it on a PC and surely not with all the new options you get in the new Sims.

This is Sims 3 – the latest incarnation of a game that took the gaming world by storm.

It shouldn’t have done, but it appears people really do like running alternative lives, complete with lifetime ambitions to achieve.

There is no way I can go into everything this game now offers. The fact it takes ages to install confirms just how much is in there.

This is a sensational game. My son summed it up quite well when he moaned about getting old too fast, and that he didn’t have enough money to do everything he wanted and to get a bigger house stuffed with more stuff than he could possibly use.

Only one comment from me – welcome to my world.

Like I say, this shouldn’t work, but it does. There are quirks like the cars pass through one another. Oh, and you can buy cars.

The animations up really close are still a little clunky, but the voices are now brilliant.

The sheer range of what you can do is utterly enormous with entire neighbourhoods open to visit – millions of little tasks to complete to keep your sim happy.

Ultra speed option so getting from one side of town to another doesn’t take all night.

Pick traits, find suitable partners, or not. Customise just about every option, select lots of careers, change careers, make your sim look like a real person. The SuBo version is fun, so is Obama.

The only thing that limits you, is you.

Knocks on people’s door – go in and get décor ideas. Chat up anyone. This is Grand Theft Auto freedom without the killings.

Plenty of new downloadable stuff is coming too – remember how many packs the previous Sims games ran to in the end – can’t help thinking EA will have a few future tricks for us.

Buy this game now – and live your life like you wish your real life would be. Or not. Choice is yours completely. And there is almost limitless choice.
