A student from South Essex College’s new logistics course is the first to secure a job in the industry.

Scott Webb was part of the first cohort of students studying on the Business, Logistics and Supply Chain course.

He has secured a full-time position with Titan Containers in West Thurrock specialising in sales and customer service for the company.

The Thurrock Campus course was first offered to students in 2014, it highlights the growing demand for logistics professionals in the south Essex area.

Scott, 20, from South Ockendon, said: “I’ve learnt so much on this course and now feel ready to enter the world of work. The tutors have given me the skills and knowledge and prepared me for this industry.”

He added: “The course was a lot of fun, I started not knowing much about logistics but now I know a lot, I’ve come a long way. The trips and work experience offered really relate to the subject.”

Mark Bentley, course leader for logistics, said: “Without a doubt the Business Logistics course has set Scott up for life, he will find plenty of opportunities in the industry. It’s growing at a rapid rate and there are lots of jobs in the local area.”
