South Essex College is launching new higher education experience days to give students a taster of the career paths they might choose to pursue
The college’s university centre at Southend will be staging four different taster days to A-Level and BTec students.
Focusing on the subject areas of early years, health and care, criminology and forensic investigation, sport, and media, the students will get to experience degree-level study for the day.
Jade Wirthrington, events co-ordinator at the college, said: “The experience days provide students with the perfect opportunity to find out more about our university centre and the courses we offer.
“They’ll get to meet the tutors, view the facilities and potentially meet new friends they’ll study with for the next three years.”
The early years, health and care taster day will take place on Tuesday February 16, 2016, and will cater for aspiring teachers and social workers.
The criminology and forensic investigation’s day on March 22 will see students take part in an interactive crime investigation process.
March 29 is when students can find out about the college’s sports degree in more detail. They will also get the chance to concoct their own sports drink.
The media day on June 23 will give students a feel for the digital animation, computer game design, film and TV production courses.
Places on the experience days are limited, so pre-booking for these events is essential. Places are open to all college and sixth form students in the UK.
