DO YOU remember a silly article in certain press last summer saying Thurrock was one of the most miserable places to live in England? Yes, I know – it got up my nose too!

Well, it seems lots of us in our lovely borough, from the politicians to the community leaders, from the school children to the older folks, have been working hard to prove that silly notion wrong.

There are lots of wonderful reasons to live in Thurrock and lots of wonderful people doing wonderful things to prove it.

Just in case you still have any doubts, Thurrock Council is putting on a Thurrock Celebrates Visioning Event at the Beehive Centre on June 20, from 2pm until 4pm.

This is a great opportunity to celebrate all the good news of Thurrock, something this little column has been trying to do for a number of years.

I’m going to be there and I hope you will encourage the leader of your group, school, charity, organisation, church or neighbourhood to come along as well and make some plans together.

This is a great opportunity to promote the good news of Thurrock.

I have been privileged to be an ambassador of a movement that has the best news ever to communicate and if ever I can bring people together to celebrate and promote this, I will! Come and join me.
