STANFORD-LE-HOPE AND CORRINGHAM TOWNSWOMEN'S GUILD

MEMBERS and two visitors braved a heavy rain storm to attend the summer social held on July 11.

All helped to set up the tables ready for eating food prepared by Janet Course.

Pamela Lawrence, Chris Wilson and Sheila Drake provided drinks, salad and nibbles. Carol Tinworth ran the special raffle.

Jenny White welcomed everyone and, after business, the party was enjoyed by all.

As usual, members were given challenging quiz sheets to keep them occupied. Barbara Purser, with her team of three, achieved the highest number of correct answers, but one of our visitors won a prize for her winning score as an individual achievement.

The competition, a flower from your garden, was who by Chris Wilson, with Audrey Blaker, Sheila Drake and Doris Krimmel runners-up.

Three intrepid ramblers braved the mud and showers for a walk around Stock recently. The next week is planned for Thames Chase on Wednesday, August 1, weather permitting.

Tony Curtis will be speaking at our next meeting, at 7.30pm on August 8, in Corringham Village Hall.

His subject is Japan, with an accompanying slideshow. The competition is a decorative spoon. Visitors will be most welcome.
