AT the June meeting of the Orsett Women’s Institute, held as always on the first Wednesday of the month in Orsett Village Hall, the theme was still very much red, white and blue in keeping with the recent jubilee celebrations.
Our guest speaker was Jan Vaile, from Amagicdo, who fired up the collective imaginations with her enterprising table centrepieces, featuring a variety of balloons.
Although the end results looked complicated and stunning, we were assured all of us could achieve most of the displays with minimal effort and cost.
Many future outings were discussed including a trip to a craft fair in Kent and a member’s dinner at a venue to be confirmed.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 4, when the talk will be on London Southend Airport and the speaker will be John Rayner.
