THURROCK WRITERS’ CIRCLE

CHAIRMAN Joy Ridgewell welcomed visitor Ray Dunn this month, who has written a children’s book inspired by his granddaughter.

Several members have entered the Age Concern competition with stories and poems.

We were looking forward to Oliver, performed by TOPS at the Thameside Theatre, which had TWC member Barbara Spencer as one of the artists taking part. There was a meal afterwards There will be 11 members going to Ipswich Belstead House for a writing weekend, an intensive programme where we work hard to improve our writing skills. This will be the group’s third visit.

Members read out stories and poems and these were discussed. A ten minute workshop on Leap Year produced many varied tales.

We meet every fortnight at the Hugh Delargy Complex Hall, in Chadwell St Mary.
