THIRTY members and one visitor attended out March meeting.
Our speaker for the evening was Marian Henderson, a lifelong member of the Salvation Army and a prison chaplain.
She had always worked for the Salvation Army as a social work officer dealing with families of prisoners and youngsters in approved schools.
Although the work was rewarding, she requested to be considered as a prison chaplain.
Her job was to train chaplains for the 80 prisons in the UK and to do visits. She retired six years ago, but is still a chaplain at HMP Bromsfield.
It was such an interesting talk and she answered many questions.
Next month we are hosting the County Annual meeting. This is also Orsett WI’s 90th birthday.
This is a ticket only function, but visitors will be most welcome on May 2, when we will be having a fish and chip supper.
