TUESDAY, September 2 sees the return of Thurrock Camera Club, to our meeting place of Cowdray Hall, West Thurrock for the beginning of the 2008/09 season.
Thurrock Camera Club which has been running since 1921, is ideal for anyone with an interest in photography, young or old, amateur or pro, digital or film, everyone is welcome.
The club is affiliated with the East Anglian Federation of Photographic Societies, and as such has competitions with other local clubs, including Benfleet, Brentwood, and Upminster to name a few.
The club is competition based, and the 2007/2008 season saw some great work being produced.
Chris Aldred CPAGB walked away with an armful of trophies, winning the advanced print league, advanced print panel, Colour print of the year, and the Smith Aral Trophy for the best natural history slide.
The other winners were Terry Schooling winning the Intermediate Print League, and Intermediate Print of the Year. Peter Rayner winning the Advanced Slide League, and Slide of the year.
Tony Abnett (a new member this year!) winning the Beginners Print Trophy, and the Beginners Print of the Year. Ray Diamond winning the Non-Advanced Print Panel. Tony Spiers winning the Mono Print of the Year.
As well as winning a lot of Trophies, Chris Aldred has also taken on the responsibility of organising the club’s syllabus for the year, and has put together an exciting program of competitions, lectures, and events.
