CHAIRMAN Audrey Haines welcomed 51 members to the April meeting, which included three new members, apologies for absence also being received from several members.

Reports were received from the various Sections of the Guild and dates and venues for future outings discussed.

After tea was served Audrey Haines introduced the speaker for the afternoon, Brian Carline, whose talk was on a Post War Childhood.

His childhood was spent in Salford but his amusing talk evoked many similar memories in his audience. Sheila Kempster gave the vote of thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

The raffle was drawn and winners of the competition for a post-war toy or game announced, Audrey Haines being the winner, followed by Glenda Boosey, Evelyn Smith and Ada King.

Our May meeting is on the 22nd, when speaker will be Mel Rees on That’s Life Book Two, the competition being a family photo or heirloom.

The Guild meets at the Methodist Church hall, in Hathaway Road, Grays, at 1.30pm.
