FORTUNATELY, I’ve never had to endure the nightmare of my home flooding.
Hopefully, I never will.
If I did, I’d be after a quick solution, with those in authority who could help me.
Residents in certain parts of Tilbury are having a tough time with flooding.
They are turning to the authorities, ie, Anglian Water, Thurrock Council and the Environmental Agency, and these authorities are turning to one another...
The council accepts there’s an issue. OK. And talks about both “short and longer-term solutions”. Great.
Anglian Water tells how it is “aware” of problems and acknowledges how “devastating” flooding is to customers.
Meanwhile, residents in these under-threat homes dread the next rainy day.
I accept these problems aren’t always cleared up in five minutes, but these sorts of issues should be matters of priority.
After all, residents pay enough hard-earned cash on council tax and water bills to expect to be able to live without fear of regular flooding.
